Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong is set to bring football and philanthropy together once again with the return of the Troost Ekong Foundation Charity Match, scheduled for June 22, 2025, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.
The Troost Ekong Foundation was established to support underprivileged children in Akwa Ibom, Nigeria, through initiatives such as adopting orphanages, enhancing access to education, and driving youth development via sports programs, including a football academy.
The previous edition of the Troost Ekong Foundation Charity Match took place in Uyo and drew significant attention for blending entertainment, community impact, and football. Held at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, the event featured a mix of current and former football stars, celebrities, and influencers who thrilled fans with a fun and competitive match.

Among the standout personalities at the previous edition were Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa, legendary goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, Middlesbrough forward Kelechi Iheanacho and beach soccer star Abu Azeez.
Fans were entertained by top Nigerian celebrities including Sabinus, Falz, and Headies Next Rated winner Odumodu Blvck, who lit up the halftime show with electrifying performances of his biggest hits, creating an unforgettable atmosphere.

“The Charity Football Match is a celebration of giving back,” Troost-Ekong said. “It’s an opportunity for us to unite and raise vital funds to support our mission. We are looking forward to an unforgettable event in Lagos.”
Proceeds raised from the match will be used in supporting the foundation’s ongoing projects, including the development of the Sports & Skills Academy.
