Nigerian forward Nathan Tella has ended his five-game run without a goal contribution, providing an assist in Bayer Leverkusen’s 2-0 victory over Augsburg at the BayArena on Saturday.
Nathan Tella, starting for the fourth game in a row, began the match strongly, setting up Patrik Schick’s early goal to put Bayer Leverkusen ahead before finding the net himself, only for his effort to be disallowed by VAR for offside.
Bayer Leverkusen went on to secure victory courtesy of Emiliano Buendía’s second Bundesliga goal, while Nathan Tella was substituted in the 64th minute, with Piero Hincapié coming on in his place.

Nathan Tella’s assist against Augsburg was his third in the league this season, surpassing the two assists he recorded in the Bundesliga last season.
Meanwhile, the 2-0 win keeps Bayer Leverkusen eight points adrift of league leaders Bayern Munich, who strengthened their title push with a 3-0 triumph over Mainz.
Although retaining the league title now seems out of reach, Bayer Leverkusen will aim for another victory when they take on Freiburg in their next Bundesliga match on Sunday, May 4.
