The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) and Hon. Kunle Soname, owner of Remo Stars Football Club, have awarded the Flamingos N6 million in recognition of their emphatic 4-0 victory over Algeria’s U-17 Women’s team on Saturday.
NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau stated that the NFF contributed two million Naira, while Hon. Kunle Soname donated four million Naira. The combined sum was given to the girls as a reward for their effort and an added incentive to complete the task and secure a World Cup spot for Nigeria.
The Flamingos delivered a dominant performance against Algeria, netting three goals within the first 16 minutes. Substitute Aishat Animashaun later came on to add the finishing touch, leaving the North African side overwhelmed.
Although Algeria’s U-17 Women’s coach remains hopeful of overturning the result, the Flamingos’ emphatic win has clearly put them on course for what would be their eighth appearance at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

The Flamingos will aim to finish the job when both sides meet again on Friday, April 25 for the second leg at the Stade Mustapha Tchaker in Blida. The winner on aggregate will secure a spot as one of Africa’s five representatives at the upcoming Women’s World Cup finals in Morocco.
The reward from the NFF and Hon. Kunle Soname highlights their dedication to supporting and inspiring the youth and women’s teams in their pursuit of international success.
