Sevilla striker Akor Adams has set his sights on earning a call-up to the Super Eagles, revealing that he is concentrating on delivering consistent performances for his Spanish side to increase his chances of joining the national team.

Akor Adams was initially included in Eric Chelle’s 39-man provisional squad for the ongoing World Cup qualifiers, but ultimately missed out on the final 23-man selection due to injury setbacks that kept him out of action for one month and 15 days.

After joining Sevilla from Montpellier in January, Akor Adams made his debut in a goalless draw against Getafe, but his momentum was halted by a tendon injury that sidelined him until he made his comeback just before the international break in a 1-0 loss to Athletic Club.

In a recent interview hosted by La Liga with top Nigerian journalists, Akor Adams who featured for the Nigeria under-20 team at the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup, outlined his ambitions for the remainder of the season, both with Sevilla and the Super Eagles.

“The focus for me right now is absolutely on Sevilla because we have a lot of objectives to catch up to in the season. And the better I do well for my club, I think the opportunity for the national team will come,” the 25-year-old stated optimistically.

As the international break draws to a close, Akor Adams will be itching to return to action when Sevilla visit Real Betis in their upcoming La Liga clash on Sunday, March 30.

The pivotal away match presents an opportunity for Sevilla to boost their European qualification hopes, as they currently trail Real Betis, who occupy the Conference League qualification spot, by eight points.
