A stellar performance by Uche Collins helped Akwa United secure a thrilling 3-2 victory over Remo Stars in their matchday 9 encounter of the Nigeria Premier Football League. The match saw the Promise Keepers return to winning ways.
Despite Remo Stars taking an early lead through Sikiru Alimi in the 15th minute, Akwa United clawed back with a goal from midfielder Dare Ojo and a brace Uche Collins to secure a 3-2 victory. Aniekeme Okon’s goal for Remo Stars was not enough to salvage a draw.

With their second win of the season in nine games, Akwa United climbed to 17th position in the league table. They will look to build on this momentum when they face Niger Tornadoes in their next match.

In other NPFL results, Sporting Lagos snatched a 1-1 draw against Heartland FC in the 100th minute thanks to Jonathan Alukwu’s goal, while Sunshine Stars and Bayelsa United played to a 1-1 draw. Enugu Rangers and Katsina United’s match ended goalless.
Defending champions Enyimba edged Lobi Stars 1-0 with Alalibo Somiari Orinate’s 88th-minute goal, while Rivers United defeated Abia Warriors 2-1 and Shooting Stars overcame Kano Pillars. Gombe United earned their fourth win of the season with a 1-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes.
