Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan opened her 2025 hurdles season with a season-best time of 12.74 seconds, finishing fourth in a highly competitive 100m hurdles event at the Xiamen Diamond League on Saturday.

The race marked Amusan’s first appearance since her disappointing performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she failed to reach the final despite being one of the favorites to medal.

Jamaica’s Danielle Williams, the 2023 World Championships gold medalist, claimed victory in 12.53 seconds, ahead of USA’s Grace Stark (12.58s) and South Africa’s Marione Fourie (12.62s).

Amusan will be aiming to build momentum as the season progresses. Her next appearance is scheduled for the 2025 World Athletics Relays, set to take place at the Guangdong Olympic Stadium in Guangzhou, China, on May 10–11, 2025.
