Newly appointed Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has begun his tenure with the team, conducting his first training session this evening ahead of the crucial World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda.

Chelle, accompanied by his assistants, arrived in Kigali on Sunday and has since been welcoming players to the camp. The early arrivals hit the gym on Monday, while six more players joined them on Monday evening and others came in on Tuesday morning.

The closed-door training session, held in Kigali, saw 22 players participate, with Alhasan Yusuf being the only absentee, expected to arrive in Rwanda tomorrow.

The highly anticipated match between the Super Eagles and Rwanda’s Amavubi is scheduled for March 22. Nigeria’s World Cup qualification hopes hinge on securing a victory, as a draw or loss would significantly reduce their chances of participating in the tournament, set to be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Eric Chelle and his team will thus be desperate to secure victory on Friday when they face Rwanda before traveling back to Nigeria to host Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo in what is another must-win match.
