The Super Eagles of Nigeria have won the 2025 Unity Cup, defeating Jamaica on penalties after a thrilling 2-2 draw in normal time to secure victory in London.
Super Eagles Head Coach Eric Chelle kept faith in Cyriel Dessers to spearhead the attack, and the Rangers forward quickly justified the decision by setting up Moses Simon’s opener following a superb through ball from Wilfred Ndidi.
However, Jamaica responded quickly when Renaldo Cephas delivered a precise pass into the box, finding Kaheim Dixon, who calmly slotted the ball home to draw the Reggae Boys level.
For the remainder of the first half, Jamaica maintained an aggressive approach, pressing relentlessly and disrupting the Super Eagles’ rhythm. Their intensity in midfield and quick closing down of spaces limited Nigeria’s ability to build meaningful attacks, effectively stifling any clear-cut chances before the break.

Few minutes into the second half, the Super Eagles regained their lead as Nathan Tella picked out Samuel Chukwueze on the edge of the box before the Nigerian winger weaved past a couple of challenges and fired a precise shot into the bottom corner, beating Jamaican goalkeeper Shaquan Davis.
Nonetheless, the Reggae Boys refused to back down, executing a move similar to their first goal to draw level once more. Renaldo Cephas turned provider again, delivering a well-timed pass for Jon Russell, who scored to make it 2-2.
In the 76th minute, Getafe midfielder Chrisantus Uche was introduced for his debut, replacing Cyriel Dessers, while fellow debutant Felix Agu made way for Bruno Onyemaechi few minutes after that.

Despite the changes, Jamaica remained firmly in the contest, and with neither side able to find a late winner, the match headed into a penalty shootout.
Both teams were perfect with their first three penalties, as Moses Simon, Tolu Arokodare, and Kelechi Iheanacho all found the net for Nigeria. Dwayne Atkinson’s effort then struck the crossbar, giving the Super Eagles an advantage.
Bruno Onyemaechi calmly converted his spot kick to make it 4-3, and debutant Chrisantus Uche sealed the victory, confidently slotting home to win the Unity Cup for Nigeria.
