Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong, along with in-form strikers Victor Osimhen and Tolu Arokodare, are expected to be among the first arrivals at the team’s camp in Kigali, Rwanda, ahead of their crucial World Cup qualifier on Friday, March 21.
The camp officially opens today, Sunday, March 16, with several Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) officials already in Kigali, preparing for the players’ arrival.
Troost-Ekong and Osimhen played their final club matches before the international break on Friday. Osimhen netted a hat-trick in Galatasaray’s 4-0 win over Antalyaspor, while Troost-Ekong’s Al Kholood suffered a 3-1 defeat to Al Nassr, with Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mané, and Jhon Durán getting on the scoresheet.

Other Super Eagles players, including Arokodare, Ola Aina, Joe Aribo, Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon and Umar Sadiq, were also in action over the weekend and are expected in camp from today.
Meanwhile, six players—Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, Wilfred Ndidi, Raphael Onyedika, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Victor Boniface, Jordan Torunarigha, and Igho Ogbu—will feature for their respective clubs today. They are set to join the camp in Kigali on Monday, barring any unexpected travel disruptions such as flight cancellations or rescheduling.
The Super Eagles will be looking to revive their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign after a poor start that saw them draw three matches and lose one in their first four games, leaving them four points behind group leaders Rwanda, Benin, and South Africa.
Earlier this month, coach Eric Chelle released a 39-man provisional squad for the qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, which was later trimmed to 23. Bayer Leverkusen’s Nathan Tella was forced to withdraw due to injury and was replaced by Jordan Torunarigha.
