Super Eagles fullback Ola Aina’s stunning goal against West Ham United has been shortlisted for Nottingham Forest’s Swizzels Sweetest Strike of the 2024–25 season.
Aina’s goal — his first of the season — came in the 78th minute of the thrilling clash, as he unleashed a powerful left-footed shot that rocketed into the top corner, sealing Nottingham Forest’s 3-0 win over the Hammers.
The remarkable 3-0 triumph marked Nottingham Forest’s third consecutive Premier League win — a streak they hadn’t achieved in the 21st century. The victory also extended their flawless home record against West Ham since earning promotion in 2022.

Aina is up against five other contenders for the Goal of the Season award as Callum Hudson-Odoi received nominations for his strikes against Liverpool, Newcastle, and Manchester City, while Chris Wood was shortlisted for his goals in both fixtures against Leicester City.
Jota Silva’s powerful strike from 15 yards out against Newcastle United, Anthony Elanga’s unstoppable effort against Manchester United, and Elliot Anderson’s superb finish against Southampton are other goals in contention for the award.
Meanwhile, Aina’s strike against West Ham was one of two Premier League goals he scored this season. The other came against Brentford, making it the first time he has scored more than once in a single campaign since the 2020–21 season with Fulham.

In addition to this nomination, Aina was also shortlisted for the EA Sports FC Premier League Team of the Season and the Premier League Fan Team of the Season, underscoring the outstanding campaign he enjoyed.
With Nottingham Forest activating a 1-year extension for the Nigerian fullback, it is expected that he will remain at the club next season as they prepare to compete on four fronts, following their qualification for the UEFA Conference League.
