Lobi Stars will be determined to end their 10-game winless streak when they face in-form Ikorodu City in their Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) clash on Saturday.

Lobi Stars, who recently appointed Mohammed Baba Ganaru as their interim head coach, have struggled to secure points this season, losing six of their last 10 games and drawing the remaining four. The team’s poor attack and inability to keep clean sheets have been major contributors to their abysmal performances and results.

The team has scored only 20 goals this season, the second-worst in the league, while conceding 34 goals, with only Sunshine Stars (40) conceding more. Unlike most Nigerian teams, Lobi Stars haven’t been able to capitalize on their home games, winning only five out of 13 home games and gaining 20 points.

The appointment of Mohammed Baba Ganaru as the new coach was expected to boost the team’s morale, but Lobi Stars have lost both games under his leadership. In contrast, Ikorodu City have been impressive, losing only one of their last five games and currently sitting sixth in the league.

However, the away form of the “Oga Boys” has been a major concern, losing eight times and only winning once in 13 away games. Nonetheless, they’ll draw inspiration from their 4-2 win over Lobi Stars in the first leg at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

Saturday’s game is thus crucial for both teams, as Lobi Stars seek to end their winless streak and secure a first win under their new coach while Ikorodu City will be hoping for victory to boost their chances of achieving continental football. With 41 points, they are just two points away from Rivers United, who sit second in the league.
