Terem Moffi grabbed his fifth goal of the season in Lorient’s 3-1 win over Olympique Lyon at the Stade du Moustoir on Wednesday in a French Ligue 1 encounter as they continue their bright start to the 2022/23 league season.
It has been a brilliant season for the Nigerian who struggled for form and consistency in the 2021/22 campaign where he only found the back of the net eight times in 37 appearances, a performance which was underwhelming.
Moffi scored the second goal for the hosts in the 33rd minute after Enzo Le Fee had put them in front in the sixth minute. Dango Ouattara grabbed the third goal for Lorient with Alexandre Lacazette’s 28th minute strike for Lyon only serving as consolation.
The Nigeria international made way for brahima Kone in the 90th minute while his compatriot, Innocent Bonke was in the heart of Lorient’s midfield playing the entire duration of the encounter.
With five goals to his name this season, Moffi is only behind Paris Saint-Germain duo Kylian Mbappe and Neymar (seven goals each) on the Ligue 1 top scorer’s log.
Moffi has the second highest conversion rate in the league 45% to Neymar’s 58%. However, he is the striker in the league with the best shot accuracy with goalkeepers dealing with 73% of his attempted shots.
