Liverpool have joined the chase to sign Super Eagles full-back Ola Aina, setting up a four-way Premier League battle for the Nottingham Forest star.

According to reports by Spanish outlet Fichajes, the Reds see Aina as a strong candidate to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold, who could leave for Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer. But they face stiff competition from Chelsea, Tottenham, and Newcastle United — all of whom are also keen on the Nigerian defender.

Manchester City were also said to be interested in the Nigeria defender in the winter as a replacement for Kyle Walker who moved to AC Milan on loan.

Aina, 28, has been in fine form for Forest since joining in 2023, quickly becoming one of the standout full-backs in the Premier League. He has featured in 30 league matches this season, contributing three goal involvements, and playing a key role in Forest’s push for European football.

Though naturally a right-back, Aina’s versatility allows him to play further up the pitch and on the left flank, making him a valuable option for any side.

Chelsea are reportedly hoping to lure their former academy player back to Stamford Bridge, while both Tottenham and Newcastle have kept close tabs on his performances this season.

With Aina’s contract set to expire at the end of the campaign, he will be available on a free transfer — a situation that has turned him into one of the most sought-after defenders in the league.

Liverpool, however, are not just watching from the sidelines. Club insiders believe Alexander-Arnold’s exit is only a matter of time and are pushing hard to bring in a proven, experienced alternative. While youngster Conor Bradley has impressed, the Reds want someone with Aina’s top-flight experience and defensive solidity.
