Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman continued his remarkable run of form, scoring his 18th goal of the season to help Atalanta secure a resounding 4-0 win over Juventus in their Serie A clash at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday.

Atalanta were under pressure to win, having drawn their previous league game against Venezia while facing a tough challenge against Juventus, who had an unbeaten home streak in the league this season.

However, Atalanta made a strong start, earning a penalty after Weston Mckennie’s handball, which Mateo Retegui converted confidently to give the away side a well deserved lead. The team had opportunities to double their advantage before halftime but they were unable to capitalize, maintaining their one-goal lead until the break.

Early in the second half, Atalanta eventually doubled their lead as Ademola Lookman’s effort was saved by Di Gregorio, but Martin De Roon smashed the rebound home to make it 2-0. The onslaught continued in the 66th minute when Davide Zappacosta scored from a tight angle, giving the away side a comfortable three-goal cushion.

The goal all but sealed the win for Atalanta, as Juventus’ hopes of a comeback began to fade. However, Ademola Lookman’s impressive performance was capped off with a goal, receiving the ball after Dusan Vlahovic slipped and driving towards the goal before firing a shot that deflected off Lloyd Kelly and into the net.

The impressive victory took Atalanta to 58 points from 28 matches, three points behind league leaders Inter Milan. Meanwhile, Juventus remain fourth with 52 points from the same number of games.

The win sets up a thrilling clash between Atalanta and Inter Milan on March 16, with Lookman’s side determined to claim their first-ever Serie A title while the league leaders seek to achieve consecutive league titles.

Lookman’s performance against Juventus serves as a perfect auditioning as the Serie A giants are set to battle against Inter Milan and other European sides to sign the Nigerian attacker during the Summer transfer window.
