…Iwobi spent time with Silva at Everton
Super Eagles duo Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey could be set to lose their manager, Marco Silva, ahead of the 2025/26 season, as the Portuguese tactician has emerged as a serious contender for the head coach role at Juventus.
The Italian giants are on the hunt for a new manager for the upcoming campaign. Their initial plan was to reappoint former boss Antonio Conte, but the 54-year-old has chosen to remain with Napoli after guiding them to a Serie A title.
With Conte out of the picture, widespread reports in Italy suggest Silva is now one of the leading candidates for the Juventus job, although the club is still evaluating other potential options.

Another strong contender was Atalanta’s Gian Piero Gasperini, but the 67-year-old has opted to join AS Roma after officially parting ways with Atalanta.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Silva is now viewed as a strong candidate to take over after Igor Tudor, who is expected to lead the Bianconeri through the FIFA Club World Cup, scheduled from mid-June to mid-July.
Iwobi and Bassey would undoubtedly miss Silva’s leadership, having both thrived under his guidance. Silva’s connection with Iwobi dates back to their time at Everton, and it was that bond that saw him bring the Nigerian international to Fulham.
Under Silva’s tutelage, both players have developed significantly, as reflected in their consistent appearances over the past two seasons.
