Werder Bremen fullback Felix Agu has expressed his desire to play for the Super Eagles, stating that it would be a dream come true for him to achieve this feat.

Born in Germany to a Nigerian Father and a German Mother, Agu had previously represented Germany at the youth level, playing for the U21 side. Professionally, he began his career with VfL Osnabrück before joining Werder Bremen in 2020, where he has made 89 appearances in five seasons.

In an interview with football journalist Oma Akatugba, Felix Agu confirmed his aspirations to play for the Nigerian national team: “To play on the National level was always a dream of mine and I had to make half of a decision already because I played for the German U21 but I want to be open.”

“I’ve talked a lot also with Justin Njimah about playing for the national team. We think that it would be a dream come true to play for Nigeria and see how it feels to represent your roots,” he added.

Agu expressed his admiration for the camaraderie among Nigerian players, indicating that he would love to be a part of it: “I see on Snapchat, Ola Aina, Iwobi, Boniface. I see the vibes they have in the team and it’s something I don’t think you have in Europe as much. I’ve never experienced it so I cannot judge it but from what I see, I like it a lot.”

The 25-year-old concluded by clearly stating his eagerness to receive a call-up to the Super Eagles: “I don’t know how fast it goes but I’ll definitely be happy about the call.”

Despite Werder Bremen’s inconsistent form, Felix Agu has been one of the top left fullbacks/wingbacks in the Bundesliga this season, impressing with his defensive resilience while scoring two goals. Agu will seek to continue his strong performances to catch the attention of coach Eric Chelle and the NFF, with the ultimate goal of representing the Super Eagles.
