Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team D’Tigress have moved up one spot to be placed 15th in the latest FIBA rankings as presented by Nike on December 6.
The move was as a result of their recent impressive performance which saw them claim a third-consecutive Afrobasket title in Cameroon in September.
D’Tigress with the upward ranking move solidified their position as the best women’s basketball playing nation in Africa followed by Senegal who also moved up one spot to be ranked 30th in the world.
Mali are third in Africa and ranked 40th in the world. Mozambique occupies the fourth-best position in Africa and 42nd in the world while Angola are fifth in Africa and 44th in the world.
Olympic champions, the United States retain their top spot in the rankings followed by Spain, Australia, Canada and France.
Belgium, China, Japan, Turkey and Serbia complete the top 10 countries in the world.
