Talks are ongoing between Italian club Cremonese and newly promoted Turkish Super Lig side Kocaelispor over the potential summer transfer of Nigerian striker David Okereke.
According to reports from Turkey, Okereke has agreed personal terms with Kocaelispor, but both clubs are yet to finalize a transfer agreement.
Newly appointed Kocaelispor manager Selçuk İnan has reportedly made Okereke a key target ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. İnan previously worked with the striker during his loan spell at Gaziantep last season and is keen to reunite with him at his new club.

Local sources in Kocaeli also suggest that Kocaelispor are exploring the possibility of a loan deal, should Cremonese be open to the terms.
However, the Italian side are believed to prefer a permanent transfer, as Okereke has just one year remaining on his current contract. A loan move would see him become a free agent next summer, leaving Cremonese without a transfer fee.
Okereke’s time at Gaziantep was marked by inconsistency despite finishing the season as the club’s top scorer. At a point, it took Inan speaking to Okereke over his form to get him back to scoring ways last season. He scored nine goals and registered one assist in 29 Turkish Super Lig appearances during the 2024/25 season.
