The international friendly between Nigeria’s Super Falcons and the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon, earlier scheduled for Saturday, May 31, at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State, has been postponed due to logistical issues from the Cameroonian side.
The postponement was announced Friday evening via the official X (formerly Twitter) page of the Super Falcons.
Bold Sports gathered that the Cameroonian team, expected to arrive in Nigeria on Thursday, failed to make it in time and consequently missed Friday’s training session. The delegation only finalised travel arrangements late Thursday night and are now scheduled to arrive in Lagos on Saturday morning before heading to their base in Ijebu-Ode.

In contrast, the Super Falcons went ahead with their final training session at the Remo Stars Stadium on Friday evening, closely monitored by Bold Sports, after holding earlier sessions at the Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu Ode.
With the first leg now off, attention turns to the second match—still scheduled for Monday, June 2—at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta. The Nigeria Football Federation confirmed that the friendly series has been reduced to a single fixture due to the Cameroonian team’s late arrival.
The friendly was originally designed as part of both countries’ preparations for upcoming international competitions. For Nigeria, it forms a crucial part of their buildup to the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, where the nine-time champions are aiming to reclaim the title.
Cameroon, who missed out on qualification for the tournament, is using the encounter to reset and begin preparations ahead of the 2026 qualifiers.
