Super Eagles fullback Ola Aina made his comeback after a month-long injury layoff, but it was a bittersweet night as Nottingham Forest suffered a 2-0 defeat to Brentford, dealing a blow to their Champions League hopes.
Ola Aina had been sidelined with a calf injury sustained during Forest’s 1-0 victory over Manchester United. However, after being declared fit, Nuno Espírito Santo wasted no time in restoring him to the starting XI, aiming to spark a crucial victory.
A win on home soil could have lifted Nottingham Forest back into fourth place, but their hopes were dealt a heavy blow in the 44th minute when a defensive error allowed Kevin Schade to capitalise and put the visitors ahead.

In a bid to inspire a much-needed comeback, Nuno brought on Taiwo Awoniyi for Elliot Anderson in the 61st minute. However, Brentford soon doubled their lead with a clinical finish from Yoane Wissa, capitalising on yet another defensive mistake.
Ola Aina was withdrawn in the 75th minute as Nottingham Forest desperately battled for an equaliser. Despite their efforts, Brentford held firm at the back, preventing the hosts from mounting a comeback and securing their second consecutive victory.

The frustrating loss left Nottingham Forest in sixth place with 60 points, tied with fifth-placed Chelsea. Meanwhile, Brentford remained in 11th but climbed to 49 points, just two behind eighth-placed Fulham.
Nottingham Forest will be eager to reignite their Champions League aspirations when they take on Crystal Palace on Monday, May 5. On the other hand, Brentford will look to extend their winning streak in their upcoming clash with Manchester United on Sunday, May 4.
