Super Eagles fullback Ola Aina has voiced his pride in his Nottingham Forest teammates following their FA Cup exit on Sunday, encouraging them to stay focused as their Champions League hopes remain alive.

Nottingham Forest’s FA Cup run came to an end after a valiant effort in their semifinal clash against Manchester City at Wembley, where an early strike from Rico Lewis and a powerful second-half header by Josko Gvardiol sealed their defeat.

Ola Aina missed the crucial match due to a calf injury that has sidelined him for several weeks. In his absence, Nuno Espírito Santo handed 18-year-old Zach Abbott his second start of the season—and his first since September.

Although Nottingham Forest fell short of reaching their first FA Cup final since 1991 and missed the opportunity to claim the trophy for the first time since 1959, Ola Aina insists he remains proud of the team.

“Proud of the boys, we keep moving,” the Nigerian fullback wrote on his official Instagram page.

Although Forest have been knocked out of the FA Cup, they are close to making a Champions League return after 44 years. With a game in hand, they currently sit sixth in the standings with 60 points, just two behind third-placed Newcastle.

The team will thus be determined to claim all three points in their upcoming match against Brentford at the City Ground on Thursday, May 1. Although Ola Aina’s fitness is still in question, there is hope he could be available for the crucial encounter, where victory is a must.
