Super Eagles duo Alex Iwobi and Ola Aina have both been nominated for the 2025 EA Sports FC Premier League team of the season after their remarkable performances for Fulham and Nottingham Forest respectively.

Alex Iwobi has enjoyed his best Premier League season ever, scoring eight goals and recording five assists in 30 starts. His consistent form has helped Fulham in competing to achieve European qualification as they currently sit 9th on the table with 48 points, six points away from Chelsea who are sixth.

He also recently achieved a historic milestone after scoring and assisting in a thrilling 3-2 win over Liverpool, becoming the first Nigerian to hit more than 30 goals and 30 assists in the Premier League.

Iwobi’s impressive displays earned him in a nomination for the Premier League team of season in the midfield category alongside other top performers including Cole Palmer, Ryan Gravenberch, Matheus Cunha, Mikel Damsgaard, Moises Caicedo, Morgan Gibbs-White, Declan Rice, Youri Tielemans, Justin Kluivert, Bruno Fernandes, Bruno Guimaraes, Alexis Mac Allister, Morgan Rogers and Anthony Elanga.

On the other hand, Ola Aina has been described by many as the best right back in the Premier League this season due to his immense exploits for Nottingham Forest, being one of the most consistent players for his side who currently sit third in the league.

As at March, the Nigerian fullback had won possession in the defensive third at least 13 more times than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues this season (105) according to WhoScored. He has also recorded two goals and one assist in the league, showcasing his ability to contribute going forward.

Ola Aina was nominated for the team of the season in the defender’s category alongside teammates Nikola Milenkovic and Murillo as well as Virgil Van Dijk, Gabriel Magalhães, Antonee Robinson, William Saliba, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konaté, and Milos Kerkez.

Voting will close on Sunday 20 April, giving supporters and the FC community plenty of time to evaluate who they believe is worthy of making the final Premier League team of the season.
