Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika is attracting serious interest from West Ham United, as the Premier League club begins reshaping its midfield ahead of the new season.

The 24-year-old has emerged as a top target for the Hammers, who are exploring replacements for Tomas Soucek amid growing transfer speculation.

Onyedika, who has two years left on his contract with Club Brugge, is said to be open to a move to London — a development that could see another Nigeria star land in the English top flight.

According to TBR Football, West Ham have already opened talks with the Belgian side as they prepare for the possibility of Soucek leaving, with newly promoted Leeds United reportedly among his admirers. Brugge may be open to doing business this summer to avoid losing Onyedika for a reduced fee next year.

A tough, defensively solid midfielder, Onyedika has earned praise for his performances in Belgium and in Europe, where he has featured 18 times in the UEFA Champions League. One of his most memorable moments came in a clash against Manchester City last season, where he opened the scoring in a group match. Although Pep Guardiola’s side came back to win 3–1, the City manager praised Brugge’s first-half performance as “brilliant” — an indirect nod to the influence of players like Onyedika.

West Ham face competition for his signature. AC Milan are also monitoring the Nigerian as a potential replacement for Tijjani Reijnders, who is on the verge of joining Manchester City in a £46 million move. Despite a disappointing eighth-place finish in Serie A that ruled them out of Europe, Milan’s historic appeal could make them strong contenders.

For Onyedika, a switch to the Premier League would be a major step up and a move that Nigerian fans will be following closely.
