Rivers Hoopers’ head coach Ogoh Odaudu has emphasised that his team is still a work in progress despite their impressive start in the Kalarahi Conference, acknowledging that they still have areas to improve while expressing confidence in their potential.

Rivers Hoopers opened their campaign in the Kalahari Conference of the 2025 Basketball Africa League with a dominant win over Stade Malien before securing a hard-fought 88-82 victory over host team FUS Rabat at the Salle Omnisports Moulay Abdellah on Sunday.

With two wins from two games, the Nigerian champions lead the Kalahari Conference standings and will face another tough test against fellow unbeaten side Al Ittihad Alexandria of Egypt on Tuesday, April 8.

Ahead of the clash, Rivers Hoopers’ head coach Ogoh Odaudu stressed that his team is not yet at its best, asserting that there is still work to be done as they progress in the competition.

”We’re still a work in progress, we are not where we think we are supposed to be yet, and just like I said we are still working on it,” Odaudu said.

However, the head coach expressed optimism in his team’s ability to compete as they seek to surpass their third-place finish from the previous year.

“Our team last year was similar to this but we had a couple of changes that has made our team lethal than it was. We are ready to compete this year, that was the plan from the get-go, we will take it one game at a time just like I said and that is what is happening right now. We don’t want to jump too far ahead of ourselves, we’ll take it one game at a time,” he reiterated.
