Zimbabwe’s Jordan Zemura has vowed that he and his teammates will do everything they can to neutralize the attacking threats of Super Eagles stars Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman in their upcoming World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.
In their previous must-win game against Rwanda, the dynamic duo of Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, consecutive African best player award winners, teamed up to score Nigeria’s opening goal, before Osimhen sealed the 2-0 victory for the Super Eagles with his second goal in Kigali.
On the other hand, Jordan Zemura who is one of Zimbabwe’s key players made a significant impact with two assists as the Warriors staged a comeback to earn a 2-2 draw against Benin Republic in their last game at Durban.

In an exclusive interview, Zemura acknowledged the exceptional talent of Osimhen and Lookman but emphasized his team’s determination to contain them: “They are unbelievable players, both of them, Lookman at Atalanta, very very talented player and we all know Victor Osimhen as one of the best strikers in the World so playing against them at club football is also very difficult.”
“There’s a lot of focus on these players because of how good they are and how effective they are in games so it’s the same here with the National team. They’re both very effective and it will be a challenge to keep them quiet but we are ready for that challenge and we’ll do everything we can,” the 25-year-old declared.
Looking ahead to the match, Zemura noted that it will be a valuable experience for Zimbabwe as they prepare for other World Cup qualification games and the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON): “It’s gonna be a very big game I think for us especially as we prepare of course for the World Cup qualification, but also the near future, for AFCON. To play against these big teams will help us see where we are in terms of competing, it’s gonna be a tough game but very good game.”

On a personal note, Zemura expressed his eagerness to face Nigeria’s top players, saying: “I’m feeling well, we’ve recovered now after the game against Benin, it was a tough game, in terms of being 2-0 down then you give a lot of energy into that game. Personally, I’m ready to go, I can’t wait to go, to compete against these players in the opposition team. They’ve got some strong players, and I’ll be up against them to show them what I’m about.”
