Nigerian forward Victor Olatunji proved to be the match-winner for Sparta Prague, scoring the decisive goal in their 2-1 victory over Sigma Olomouc at the Andruv Stadion on Saturday.
Sparta Prague came into the game brimming with confidence, having secured five consecutive wins in all competitions. However, they faced a formidable challenge in Sigma Olomouc, who had won four of their last five games.
Despite the tough opposition, it was business as usual for Sparta Prague who took the lead in the 25th minute through Jan Kuchta’s strike. Nonetheless, Sigma Olomouc showcased their relentlessness, equalizing just before halftime, courtesy of Filip Zorvan’s goal in the 37th minute.
With the scores level, Sparta Prague introduced Victor Olatunji in the 61st minute, replacing Albion Rrahmani, as they pushed for a winning goal. The substitution ultimately paid off, as Olatunji scored his sixth league goal in the 87th minute to secure the victory for the away side.

The crucial win propelled Sparta Prague to second place in the league standings, 10 points behind league leaders Slavia Prague who have a game in hand. Meanwhile, Sigma Olomouc remain in sixth position with 35 points.
Sparta Prague’s next fixture is arguably their most important game of the season, as they face off against league leaders Slavia Prague, aiming to secure a victory that would narrow the gap between the two teams. On the other hand, Sigma Olomouc’s upcoming game is a cup clash against Hanacka Slavia Kromeriz, as they hope to immediately bounce back from the loss.
