Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have been placed in Group F alongside Colombia, Saudi Arabia, and Norway for the 24th edition of the FIFA U-20 World Cup, set to be held in Chile.
The draw for the upcoming global showpiece took place at Chilevisión’s Machasa studios in Santiago and was hosted by Chilean journalist and presenter Javiera Naranjo. FIFA’s Director of Tournaments, Jaime Yarza, conducted the draw, with assistance from South American football legend and former Argentina captain, Juan Pablo Sorín.
Nigeria is among four African nations set to participate in the tournament, joining continental champions South Africa who were placed in Group E, as well as Morocco in Group C and Egypt in Group A.

The competition is scheduled to run from September 27 to October 19, with matches set to be played in four Chilean cities: Santiago, Rancagua, Valparaíso, and Talca.
The Flying Eagles will be aiming to win their first-ever FIFA U-20 World Cup title, having narrowly missed out in the past, finishing as runners-up in 1989 and 2005 after losing to Portugal and Argentina respectively in those finals.
This marks the second time Chile will host the prestigious tournament, having previously staged the event in 1987, back when it was called the FIFA World Youth Championship. In that edition, Yugoslavia defeated West Germany in a penalty shootout to lift the title.
