Trabzonspor president Ertuğrul Doğan has confirmed that negotiations are ongoing and close to completion for the transfer of Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu from Southampton, Bold Sports reports.
Onuachu is eager to leave Southampton following their relegation from the Premier League and is looking forward to a permanent return to Trabzonspor ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The Nigeria international enjoyed a standout loan spell at the Turkish club during the 2023/24 campaign, scoring 17 goals and providing four assists in 25 appearances. Trabzonspor had hoped to make his deal permanent last season, but an agreement could not be reached with the Saints.

Despite scoring just four goals in 25 games for Southampton last season, Onuachu was the club’s top scorer, though his efforts were not enough to prevent the Saints from finishing bottom of the league with only 12 points from 38 matches.
The 31-year-old striker has attracted interest from several clubs in Turkey and Belgium, but he has made it clear that his priority is a return to Trabzonspor, where he rediscovered his form.
According to reports in Turkey, personal terms between Onuachu and Trabzonspor have already been agreed. However, both clubs are yet to settle on a transfer fee.

Southampton reportedly value the Nigerian forward at £4.2 million, while Trabzonspor are hoping to negotiate a lower fee.
Doğan remains optimistic that a deal will be finalized soon.
“Paul Onuachu is on our transfer agenda. We continue to negotiate and hopefully we will reach an agreement soon,” Dogan said.
