Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan ran her fastest time of the year on Friday night, clocking 12.24s to finish second in the women’s 100m hurdles at the 2025 Paris Diamond League.
Amusan, who still holds the women’s 100m hurdles world record of 12.12s from the 2022 World Championships, narrowly lost to Grace Stark of the United States. Stark stormed to victory in 12.21s, setting both a Meeting Record and a Personal Best. Jamaica’s Ackera Nugent placed third with a time of 12.30s.
Amusan’s 12.24s is her season’s best, and ranks as the fourth-fastest time in the world this year, trailing only Masai Russell (12.17s), Tia Jones (12.19s), and Stark (12.21s).

The time is also the second-fastest of Amusan’s career, and her third-fastest in all conditions, behind her wind-aided 12.06s in the 2022 World Championship final and her world record 12.12s from the semifinals.
Amusan has shown consistent improvement this season. She opened with 12.74s in Xiamen, then ran 12.66s in Doha, 12.53s in Kingston, 12.45s in Atlanta, and now 12.24s in Paris — her strongest outing yet.

The race featured a world-class field. Finishing behind Amusan were Kendra Harrison (12.48s), Nadine Visser (12.51s), Devynne Charlton (12.53s), Alaysha Johnson (12.66s), and Pia Skrzyszowska (12.67s).
With the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo just under two months away, Amusan has reaffirmed her position as one of the favourites for gold in the women’s sprint hurdles.
