Tanzania’s head coach, Hemed Suleiman Ali, has emphasised the importance of preparation as the Taifa Stars get ready to take on Nigeria, Tunisia, and Uganda in Group C of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Taifa Stars, making their fourth AFCON appearance, will be up against a Nigerian side that finished as runners-up in the last edition and is widely considered one of the tournament favorites. However, Suleiman Ali remains determined.
“We are ready. We saw who we are going to play with. I think it’s a tough group but it’s tough for all of them. There is no easy group.
“If you have qualified for this stage of the competition, you have to prepare. We know who we are facing, and we know how we will prepare for them. There is no other way, we have to prepare well and represent our people well at this tournament,” he said.
Tanzania has never progressed beyond the group stage in their previous three AFCON appearances, but under Suleiman Ali’s leadership, they will be hoping to break that trend. The Taifa Stars secured their qualification with key victories over Guinea and Ethiopia, including a decisive 1-0 win against Guinea.
