Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi hopes to become only the third Nottingham Forest to score in three consecutive league games when they host Arsenal in the league’s penultimate game on Saturday.

Awoniyi who has been in a blistering goal scoring form, scored braces in Forests last two games against Southampton and Chelsea.

Only two Nottingham Forest players, Dougie Freedman and Danilo have scored in three consecutive league games.

Freedman achieved the feat in the 1998/99 season while Danilo scored against Brighton, Brentford and Southampton this season to equal the feat.

Awoniyi has scored nine goals and created one assist for the Steven Cooper-led side this season in their bid to escape relegation just a season after returning to the top flight of English football.

The 25-year-old missed three months of football due to a groin injury with his absence greatly affecting the performance of the side who had to go nine games without a proven striker.
