Sporting Lagos broke their winless streak of 73 days, 1,752 hours, and 105,120 minutes with a 1-0 triumph over Rivers United at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.

Following a cautious first half, Sporting Lagos emerged more determined after the break. In the 52nd minute, Clement Naantuam seized possession from a Rivers United defender and calmly slotted the ball past the goalkeeper for the lone goal of the match.

Despite Rivers United’s efforts to level the score, the hosts held firm to secure their first victory in seven league matches and their inaugural home win since defeating Katsina United 1-0 on December 3rd, 2023.
