Moses Simon was named the Man of the Match after Nigeria advanced to the semi-final ongoing Africa Cup of Nations thanks to a 1-0 win over the Palancas Negras of Angola.

Ademola Lookman scored the only goal of the encounter in the 41st minute. Still, it was Simon’s speed and ability to take the ball from the sliding defender and cross accurately for Lookman to smash into the net.

It was the first Man of The Match award for Moses Simon at the AFCON.

Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi hailed the Nantes forward also stating that the honour was well deserved. “Firstly I’ll have to give it up to Simon for the job he did today working extra hard offensively and defensively. I feel he deserves it,” Akpeyi said while speaking during Super Sports post-match analysis.

Aside from the assist, Simon also had the opportunity to write his name on the score sheet after dribbling past three defenders and finding himself inside the 18-yard box but his effort was blocked by a defender.
