Inter Milan defender, Milan Skriniar, has wished Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, quick recovery after his successful cheekbone injury.
Skriniar and Osimhen had a collision of heads in Napoli’s 3-2 loss to the champions in the Italian Serie A on Sunday, their first defeat of the season.
Osimhen contested a header with the Slovak defender but the Nigerian came off worse from the challenge breaking his cheekbone and eye socket, which he has undergone surgery for.
The injury rules the Nigerian out of action for the next three months which will also see him miss out on Nigeria’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations campaign in Cameroon next year.
Milan Skriniar in an Instagram video wished Osimhen a quick recovery.
“Hi Victor, good luck, I hope to see you on the pitch soon. Forza, champ.”
Osimhen before his injury has scored nine goals in 14 appearances across all competitions for the Naples-based side.
He is Napoli’s top scorer and one of the best strikers in Serie A this season. He joined Napoli from Lille in 2020 for a record fee of €70 million. He is the most expensive African player ever.
Skriniar’s gesture shows his sportsmanship and respect for Osimhen. He is one of the best defenders in Europe and has been instrumental in Inter Milan’s success. He helped them win their first Serie A title in 11 years last season. He is also a regular for Slovakia’s national team.
He posted the video on his Instagram account [@milanskriniar], where he has over 1.2 million followers. He also shared some photos of him and Osimhen during the match.
Osimhen appreciated Skriniar’s message and replied to him on his own Instagram account [@victorosimhen9], where he has over 1.4 million followers. He thanked him for his kindness and said he hopes to see him soon.
Many fans and fellow players also commented on the video and wished Osimhen a speedy recovery. They praised Skriniar for his classy act and hoped that Osimhen will come back stronger than ever.
