Nigeria’s Super Falcons remain 36th in the world in the latest FIFA Women’s World Ranking released on Wednesday.
This is the fifth consecutive time the team has been ranked 36th since dropping from 34th in March 2024.
Despite the static global position, the Falcons continue to lead Africa, maintaining their long-held status as the continent’s top-ranked women’s national team — a position no other African side has ever overtaken.
During the latest ranking window, Nigeria played just one match — a 2-0 friendly win over Cameroon at the MKO Abiola International Stadium in Abeokuta earlier this month.

South Africa, second in Africa, also remain unmoved at 54th globally, while Morocco stay third on the continent and 60th in the world.
Cameroon climbed two places to 64th, displacing Zambia, who dropped to fourth in Africa and 65th globally. Ghana slipped one spot to 66th in the world and now sit fifth on the continent.
Egypt were the biggest movers in the latest update, jumping seven places to 93rd globally.
At the top of the global ranking, the United States retained first place, with Spain and Germany also holding firm in second and third, respectively. Brazil climbed four places to fourth, while England dropped to fifth following their 2-1 loss to Spain in the UEFA Women’s Nations League.
Sweden stay sixth, Japan fall two spots to seventh, and Canada drop one place to eighth. North Korea remain ninth, while France round out the top 10 after moving up one spot.
The next FIFA Women’s World Ranking will be released on August 7 — after the Super Falcons compete at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which will be held in Morocco from July 5 to 26, 2025.
