The Super Eagles squad celebrated Ademola Lookman in style this evening, presenting him with a cake and singing his praises for winning the 2024 African Player of the Year award.
Ademola Lookman’s coronation as CAF Men’s Player of the Year at the 2024 CAF Awards in Marrakech, Morocco, marked the pinnacle of his rapid rise to prominence. The Atalanta star has since improved on his outstanding form, outscoring his entire previous season’s tally with 18 goals this campaign.
Making his return to the Super Eagles for the first time since being crowned Africa’s best, Ademola Lookman made an instant impact, providing the assist for Osimhen’s opening goal in Nigeria’s 2-0 World Cup qualifying win over Rwanda in Kigali.

Victor Osimhen, the previous recipient of the award, praised Ademola Lookman during the celebration, stating that the Atalanta star was a worthy winner of the prestigious honor.
“First of all, we all know Lookman deserved this, he’s been amazing for both his club and also for the Super Eagles. It’s a great privilege that this prestigious award came to Nigeria and also went to the most deserving person,” Osimhen said.
“I’m proud of you, we speak in private a lot of times and I told you how proud I am that you decided to play for the Super Eagles and this, your hard work and dedication for us, for your club, shows that you deserve to be the African best,” the Galatasaray striker added.

An overwhelmed Ademola Lookman thanked his teammates during the celebration, humbly acknowledging that their support and contributions played a crucial role in his winning the prestigious award: “I want to thank everybody in this room and obviously beyond this room for all of the love, the good times and the bad times that we’ve all spent.”
“To be crowned Africa’s best player is because of you guys as well. You guys push me, you help me, so I just want to say thank you and much love,” he concluded.
