Premier League returnees Sunderland are targeting Nigerian midfielder Christantus Uche as a possible replacement for Jobe Bellingham, according to multiple transfer reports.

Chrisantus Uche, 22, had a breakout season with Getafe in LaLiga, scoring four goals and providing six assists in 33 appearances. His standout performances have put him on the radar of clubs across Europe.

Transfer insider Ekrem Konur reports that Sunderland are “closely tracking” the midfielder ahead of a major summer rebuild. The Black Cats are expected to lose Bellingham, and Uche has emerged as a serious candidate to fill the midfield void.

The Super Eagles midfielder only joined Getafe from Spanish third-division side Ceuta last summer but quickly became a key figure at the club. His mix of power, technical ability and tactical awareness has drawn praise in Spain and beyond.

While LaLiga giants Atletico Madrid are also reportedly interested in keeping him in Spain, interest from England continues to grow. Brentford, West Ham, and Chelsea are all monitoring his situation, alongside newly-promoted Leeds United.

Chrisantus Uche has a €25 million release clause in his contract, and Getafe are unlikely to let him go without a fight.
