Despite hiring a new coach after parting ways with long-term head coach Paul Offor, newly appointed coach Abdullahi Biffo seems to be following in his predecessor’s footsteps. The team lost 2-0 to Katsina United on the road, a disappointing result that highlights their ongoing struggles.

Sporting has not had the best of results when playing outside of their home turf at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos, where they remain unbeaten.

This season, they have only managed to earn three points away from home, with two draws coming in the first half of the competition against Akwa United and Abia Warriors and a single point earned against Doma United in the second half.

The club announced the departure of Offor after a 1-0 home victory over Sunshine Stars of Akure, with the goal of avoiding relegation at the end of the season. However, the decision was met with a negative reaction from fans, who believe that the team’s problems stem from a lack of quality players rather than coaching issues.

Although it’s been only a week, but Biffo’s arrival has not yet yielded the desired results, as the team fell to in-form Katsina United and dropped to 13th place in the league table.

With seven challenging games remaining until the end of the season, Sporting faces an uphill battle. Their upcoming fixtures include home games against Abia Warriors, Enugu Rangers, Plateau United, and Enyimba, as well as away trips to Rivers United, Bayelsa United, and Sunshine Stars.
