Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar emerged as the hero for Valencia, scoring a brilliant brace to rescue a point in a thrilling 3-3 draw against Osasuna in their La Liga clash on Sunday.

Valencia were desperate for a win to escape the relegation zone with 13 games remaining, while Osasuna sought to end their four-game winless streak in front of their home fans as the stage was set for an intense encounter.

Despite the home crowd’s support, Valencia struck first through Diego Lopez’s 14th-minute goal, only for Aimar Oroz to level the score just 12 minutes later. Sadiq Umar then regained the lead for Valencia, but Osasuna responded with two goals in six minutes, courtesy of Oroz’s second goal and Ante Budimir’s penalty, to take the lead into halftime.

In the second half, Valencia pushed hard for an equalizer, but Osasuna’s resilient defense denied them clear-cut chances. Just as the home side seemed poised to celebrate a win, Sadiq Umar scored a goal of the season contender, flicking the ball past the goalkeeper to level the scoreline and snatch a point for the away side.

Although Valencia would have preferred a win, the draw provided a welcome relief given their precarious situation. They now sit 18th on the table with 24 points from 26 games, with goal difference separating them from Las Palmas, who are just outside the relegation zone.

Valencia will aim to build on this momentum by securing a crucial victory against Real Valladolid in their next La Liga match, with safety their top priority. A win would be a significant step towards escaping the relegation zone.
