Valencia and Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar has been awarded the La Liga Goal of the Month for March, thanks to his skillful flick to score a late goal, securing a 3-3 draw against Osasuna earlier this month.
Sadiq Umar’s clinical finish was his second goal of the match, coming in the 87th minute when he expertly flicked a low cross past the goalkeeper, securing a crucial equalizer and earning a valuable point for the visiting team.
Before his crucial late goal, Sadiq Umar had already made his mark in the game, scoring in the 32nd minute to restore Valencia’s lead after Aimar Oroz’s equalizer for Osasuna had cancelled out Diego Lopez’s early opener.
Sadiq Umar’s goal marked his fifth since joining Valencia in January, surpassing the four goals he has scored for his parent club, Real Sociedad, since he arrived from Almeria in 2022.
The 28-year-old has been on unstoppable form for Valencia, achieving an impressive 100% success rate with his shots on target in LaLiga since February 1, scoring four goals from four shots on target, the highest of any player in the competition within that time according to OptaJose.
After receiving no minute in the World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, Sadiq Umar returns to Valencia refreshed and motivated to build on his impressive streak, as the team seeks to distance itself from the relegation zone.
