Rivers United have confirmed the appointment of former Enyimba coach Yemi Olanrewaju as the club’s new Chief Coach ahead of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League season.

Olanrewaju reunites with Technical Adviser George Finidi, whom he previously assisted at Enyimba before taking over as interim, and subsequently, head coach following Finidi’s departure to manage the Super Eagles.

In an official statement, Rivers United announced that Olanrewaju replaces outgoing Chief Coach Evans Ogenyi, whose contract with the club has expired.

“Rivers United Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Yemi Daniel Olanrewaju as the new Chief Coach of the club,” the statement read.

“He replaces Coach Evans Ogenyi, who has left the Pride of Rivers following the expiration of his contract. Coach Yemi Daniel Olanrewaju joins our technical crew led by Technical Manager Finidi George.”

With the former Enyimba duo now leading the technical bench, Rivers United will be hoping their combined experience can guide the team to success in next season’s CAF Champions League campaign and help reclaim the NPFL title.
