Nigerian forward Philip Otele netted his ninth goal of the season as Basel celebrated their 21st Super League triumph with a dominant 4-0 win over Luzern in their final league match.
Philip Otele came into the match in excellent form, having scored four goals and provided three assists in his last six appearances, playing a pivotal role in Basel’s triumph as they secured their first Super League title since 2017.
The 26-year-old wasted no time in continuing his fine form against Luzern, finding the net in the 40th minute to double Basel’s advantage after Albian Ajeti had opened the scoring in the 18th minute.

Despite a two-goal cushion, Basel kept pushing in the second half, with Anton Kade striking in the 55th minute to make it 3-0, before Bénie Traoré sealed the emphatic 4-0 win with a goal in the 69th minute.
The impressive victory marked Basel’s ninth win in the last 10 league matches, taking them to 73 points and increasing their goal tally to 91 — 25 more than Luzern, who remain the league’s second-highest scorers.
Philip Otele and his teammates will now be looking to accomplish even greater milestones as they go up against Biel/Bienne in the Swiss Cup final on Sunday, June 1, with the opportunity to secure the domestic double for the seventh time in the club’s history.

The Swiss Cup final could also potentially mark Philip Otele’s last game for Basel, as he is currently on loan from Al-Wahda FC. However, the Swiss giants are likely to push to keep him permanently, having an option to make the deal permanent and eager to retain his valuable contributions moving forward.
