Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, has begun his preseason preparations with the Italian club, Napoli, despite reports of interest from top European teams.
The Nigeria international arrived at Castel Volturno on Tuesday morning to undergo medical examinations and start preseason training.
According to La Repubblica, Osimhen was among the first players to report to Napoli’s training center. Leonardo Spinazzola and Rafa Marin, had medical tests on Monday, while Alessandro Buongiorno will undergo examinations on Wednesday.
Despite widespread speculation about his future, Osimhen has yet to receive any formal offers to leave the Stadio Maradona.
His contract includes a €130 million release clause, which has seemingly deterred potential suitors thus far. Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with the striker, but Napoli officials claim they haven’t heard from any interested parties.
The lack of concrete offers means Osimhen will begin preparing for the new campaign with Napoli, at least for now. However, many expect the Nigerian to move on from the club this summer, given his stellar performances last season.
Napoli’s new manager, Antonio Conte, has not hidden his decision to be open to losing Osimhen, as he is looking for a reunion with Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku, while the club is also open to a sale if their valuation is met.
