Super Eagles Victor Osimhen is set to return to action today as Galatasaray takes on José Mourinho’s Fenerbahce in the highly anticipated intercontinental derby at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium.
Osimhen will be aiming to score his first goal in the Turkish Super Lig during the clash.
The Super Eagles forward played a full 90 minutes in his league debut, providing an assist in Galatasaray’s 5-0 rout of Rizespor. However, he missed the subsequent 3-1 victory against Gaziantep, with Michy Batshuayi taking his place in the starting lineup.

According to Turkish outlet Fanatik, Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk is ready to field Osimhen in the high-stakes encounter against their fierce rivals. Although Galatasaray lost 1-0 in their last meeting with Fenerbahce, they have been the dominant side recently, winning three out of the last five matches between the teams and losing just once.
For Osimhen, it’s not only about reclaiming a starting spot but also about netting his first goal for Galatasaray and helping the team secure bragging rights over Mourinho’s side.
This fixture marks the 400th meeting between the two clubs. Fenerbahce holds the edge with 149 victories, while 124 matches have ended in draws, and Galatasaray has claimed 127 wins. The rivalry dates back to their first encounter in 1909.
