Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen has reportedly decided to continue his career at Turkish champions Galatasaray, but his future remains in limbo as Napoli hold out for his full €75 million release clause.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Osimhen has rejected a mammoth offer from Saudi club Al-Hilal — a €160 million deal that would have paid him €40 million per year — in favour of staying in European football. The Super Eagles star, who joined Napoli in 2020, has consistently made it clear that his priority is to remain in Europe, even if it means walking away from record-breaking wages.
“Victor is not an ordinary player on the pitch and not even an ordinary 26-year-old boy,” the report said. “He is faithful to his principles… He refused the oil well offered by Al-Hilal because he has always prioritised European football.”

After a tense and frustrating season in Naples, Osimhen is said to be drawn to the warmth and passion he has received in Istanbul since joining Galatasaray on loan last September. The Turkish club has reportedly offered him €16 million per year to stay — more than his current €12 million salary — and he has accepted the proposal.
However, the final decision lies with Napoli, who are refusing to negotiate below the €75 million termination clause included in Osimhen’s contract. Galatasaray, for their part, have yet to match that fee, with reports indicating they’ve only gone as high as €50–60 million so far.
If no agreement is reached by the time Napoli begin pre-season training between July 15 and 17, Osimhen will be expected to report to manager Antonio Conte. Napoli could also activate a unilateral extension to Osimhen’s contract, keeping him at the club until 2027.

In Turkey, the news of Osimhen’s desire to stay has ignited public excitement. He is hugely popular among Galatasaray fans, and local media report that a consortium of sponsors may step in to help fund the transfer.
For now, however, the standoff continues.
Napoli are standing firm on their valuation of a player who has become one of the most feared centre-forwards in Europe. From their perspective, there will be no discounts — not for Galatasaray, and not for any other club.
