Super Eagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel has expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Birmingham City Foundation after receiving a donation of T-shirts and shorts to support grassroots football projects in Nigeria.
Osayi-Samuel, who recently completed a move to Birmingham City from Turkish giants Fenerbahçe, is well known for his involvement in community-driven initiatives back home, particularly in Edo State, where he hails from.
Speaking after receiving the items, Osayi-Samuel said: “I just want to say I’m very appreciative to the club of course for the foundation. I just wanna say thank you, it’s a big gesture.”
The fullback, who is passionate about giving back to his roots, sees the donation as a step towards creating more football opportunities for young talents in Nigeria.
“Football is a global sport and I obviously wanna represent where I come from. So for me to represent it with Birmingham T-Shirts and shorts is a start and you never know, we might find another baller and he ends up signing for Birmingham City,” he said.
Through his active involvement in grassroots football, Osayi-Samuel continues to make significant efforts to inspire and empower young players in his community.
“I’m pretty sure all the kids will be very happy and once again I want to say thank you to the club,” he added.
The Birmingham City Foundation’s gesture aligns with the defender’s long-standing commitment to using football as a tool to support youth development in Nigeria.
