Nigerian forward David Okereke found the net early for Gaziantep, but his goal wasn’t enough as Başakşehir mounted a comeback to claim a 2-1 victory at the Başakşehir Fatih Terim Stadium on Sunday.
David Okereke, who had provided an assist in Gaziantep’s previous match against Hatayspor, was handed another start and quickly made his presence felt by scoring in the ninth minute to put the visitors ahead.
However, Başakşehir showed resilience, netting twice in the space of seven minutes through a Krzysztof Piatek penalty and a goal from Ivan Brnic to complete the comeback and head into the break with a 2-1 advantage.
In the second half, Gaziantep controlled much of the play as they pushed for an equaliser but struggled to generate clear-cut opportunities, recording only two shots on target.

Despite Krzysztof Piatek receiving a red card in the 88th minute, the visitors failed to make the most of the numerical advantage and were also reduced to ten men when Kacper Kozlowski was sent off in the closing moments of the match.
Başakşehir’s win lifted them to 48 points, just two behind Eyüpspor, who currently hold the Conference League qualification spot. On the other hand, Gaziantep stay in 8th place with 42 points from 30 matches.
Gaziantep have another difficult test ahead as they take on Fenerbahçe on Saturday, April 26. Meanwhile, Başakşehir, currently enjoying a four-game winning streak, will look to extend their form when they meet Göztepe on Monday, April 28.
