Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, recorded his seventh clean sheet of the season, helping Chippa United secure a 2-0 win over Polokwane City at the Buffalo City Stadium on Saturday.

Chippa United were eager to end their three-game winless streak, which had resulted in a drop on the league table. However, their chances were boosted by facing a Polokwane City side that had gone seven games without a victory in the league.

Spurred on by their home crowd, Chippa United secured the much-needed win courtesy of Azola Ntsabo’s 50th-minute goal and an own goal by Brian Bwire in the 86th minute, ending their underwhelming run of form.

Stanley Nwabali had a relatively quiet game due to a combination of lackluster finishing by the away side and resilient defending from Chippa United. Nonetheless, the Nigerian goalkeeper proved reliable when called upon, making two saves to take his clean sheet tally to seven, the third-highest in the league.

Chippa United will aim to build on their momentum with a home clash against AmaZulu FC after the international break, while Polokwane City will host Richards Bay, seeking to end their winless streak.
