Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have been placed in Group A alongside West African rivals Ghana and Benin for the upcoming WAFU Zone B U-20 Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place in Prampram, Ghana.

Set to run from July 10 to 23, 2025, the tournament will see only the top two teams from each group progressing to the semifinals, setting the stage for a tightly contested group phase.

Group B features a challenging line-up as well, with Cote d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Niger, and Togo all competing for a spot in the last four.

The competition was initially slated for June 15 to 30 but will now kick off on July 10 at the GFA Technical Centre in Prampram — Ghana’s premier football development venue.

The 2025 edition will be limited to WAFU Zone B nations only, after teams from Zone A were ruled out due to failure to meet organisational requirements.

Widely seen as a springboard for emerging talent, the WAFU Zone B U-20 tournament also doubles as a qualification pathway to the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will be aiming to clinch the title as a major boost ahead of the 24th FIFA U-20 World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in Chile from September 27 to October 19.
