The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has launched “Mission X,” a media campaign aimed at galvanising support for the Super Falcons as they prepare to compete at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco next month.
With nine continental titles to their name, the Super Falcons remain the most successful team in the history of African women’s football. As they target a record-extending 10th title, the NFF is calling on Nigerians both at home and abroad to throw their full support behind the team.
The WAFCON tournament will run from July 5 to 26, with Nigeria placed in Group B alongside Tunisia, Algeria, and Botswana. The Falcons will kick off their campaign on July 6 at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca.

Speaking from the United States, NFF General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi said the new campaign is designed to energise fans and create support for the team.
“We are committed to fully supporting the Super Falcons’ campaign for a 10th continental title, and that is why we are launching the Mission X campaign — to sensitize football-loving Nigerians at home and in the diaspora, young and old, in high and low places, and male and female, to also come out and support the team,” Sanusi said.
“The Super Falcons remain the most decorated National Team in African football. We are proud of what they have achieved and what they intend to achieve in Morocco.”

He emphasised the need for visible and vocal fan support throughout the tournament:
“We want the Super Falcons to feel the energy of our football-passionate fans everywhere they go, from Abuja to Casablanca, where they will play their group stage matches, and at any other venue they have to play their knockout games in Morocco.”
This campaign follows a similar initiative the NFF launched earlier this year before the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast. That campaign, “Let’s Do It Again,” included a theme song and promotional materials to boost the Super Eagles’ quest to win a fourth AFCON title. The Eagles eventually finished as runners-up, losing 2-1 to hosts Ivory Coast in the final.
Ahead of WAFCON 2025, Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has expressed the team’s strong desire to win, while urging the NFF to do its part in ensuring adequate preparation and motivation.

“There’s a lot of confidence in camp and we’re committed to our goal. We all understand what’s at stake,” Ajibade said in an interview with the Super Falcons Show.
“Every player heading to the tournament wants to compete and win. We will give everything on the pitch, but we also know that success depends on both internal and external factors.”
“We’ll continue to do our part as players, but we hope everything behind the scenes is properly handled to help us perform at our best and ultimately bring the trophy home.”

Veteran forward Francisca Ordega, who was part of five title-winning campaigns, speaking to Bold Sports, echoed similar sentiments while emphasising the hunger within the squad to reclaim the title.
“The target is to win of course. You can’t be going to a battle and want to lose the battle, so the goal is to win, bring back the trophy,” Ordega said.
“It’s not gonna be easy. If I say it’s gonna be easy, I’d be lying, because a lot of teams are going to be prepared for this tournament.”

“I think everything is equal to the task, any team can win, but then we can’t afford to lose this time. We’ve been out for like four years, since 2016, so we’ve made all our fans and Nigerians so sad.”
“It’s been a long time, so we have to do it right this time — to bring it back for them, to make them happy.”
With preparations intensifying and Mission X underway, all eyes will be on the Super Falcons as they aim to restore their dominance on the African stage and lift their first WAFCON title since 2018.
